Oo, now I really want to read this book! But I’m also working through a number of paperbacks I’ve bought this year (and prior) and I have to say… though my reading is slower in physical form I am LOVING how much more goes into my brain and heart from the process. I’ve hardly touched my kindle lately and yet I feel deeply connected to and grateful for the books I have read — fiction and non fiction — this year.

Ooh, this sounds like one I should add to the collection! I'm starting to go through the same 'there's no shame in rest' unraveling myself. It only took a bit of raging burnout and a diagnosis to get there 🤣😭.

I think something else is happening too right now. So many of us who were brought up with "study hard and you'll get a good job, work hard and you'll be recognized, keep working hard and you'll be able to have a good life" are finding that, despite doing all that, and despite the 'value' we've added to our workplaces, we're dispensable - that awful word 'redundant.'

We're slowly learning we have been sold a lie. And I don't blame the people who sold it to us (our parents and teachers) because they believed it too.

I don't regret what I have given my workplaces, I have learned and grown a lot. What I do regret is how many times I told myself 'no, you can't take a break right now, we're too busy.' I regret the time missed doing things I love with people I love because I was exhausted from working and caring about organisations that in the end didn't care about me. Not the fault of the people there, but of the whole systemic beast.

Now I'm looking to folk like you to see that it's possible to rest and enjoy and achieve at the same time. Which is a long-winded way of saying thanks - I'll check out the book 😁
