Yes, for sure! Sometimes, we're the one we write a thing for.
Roblox can be really fun. I enjoy the obby style games but I'm so bad at them lol we've spent a lot of time playing the fashion games as a family which can be hilarious.
I think it's really good practice to be bad at something and remember that it's totally okay!
Oh my god, yes! Obeys are the thing I suck at most, but also the thing that's taught me the most about how it's okay to suck at something at first and the best way to get better at it is to keep doing it. Just like writing.
Play! It's the art of play. And I think we need to make more room in our lives for it as adults - because we seem to take life far too seriously! As children, failure was how we learned - we fell fown, we got up.... As adults, it's still the same.
I love that you're enjoying these moments - so good for your headspace 🧡
It's really good! I even play alone sometimes now if the kiddo doesn't wanna play lol I'm starting to get better at it, which is a nice reminder as well that we all start somewhere and we're all capable of improving. I definitely take life far too seriously. Play is so important.
For a short time JB and I tried to fly kites. We were soooo useless and it was hilarious the things that happened as we tried to get them into sustained flight. We sucked big time and loved it thoroughly. Occasionally things would come together with some gracefulness then it would be crash and burn again. The same with radio controlled cars - flipping them, the skids etc. I don't know why I find "mistakes" so funny but I do. XXX Maybe too many slapstick movies as a child - something that nowadays might be considered "inapproprate" or "offensive" LOL
I read a fitness book by Lou Schueller (?) where he said we all *used* to be something. His thesis (IIRC) is that holding onto those things makes us materially worse at being us today, a kind of temporal anchor on our best lives.
That's a good one to think about! Reminds me of something I read in a book I can't recall or something I watched (who knows) about burnout. About how glorifying your past self is really crap for your brain - that's the you who got you to where you are now. You can look at the positive elements of that, but you also have to look at the negatives. Embracing where you are now is a whole lot better than staying fixated on who you were.
I love this.
I've found the same experience with play Roblox with my daughter and getting used to the idea that I'm a "noob" and sucking at a lot of things.
I feel like it's helped me feel more okay about writing something that I feel isn't that great and won't get any attention.
It doesn't really matter, as long as it's serving me in some way.

100%!!!! It's so easy to forget what the learning curve looks like when you've been doing a thing for a long time.

I was reminded yesterday from my US Coaching team that we all start somewhere at zero. For everything. A beautiful reminder
Love this post. Joy is such a great thing to have XXXXX
It really is! It's been a long time since I embraced being totally awful at something lol

Finding joy is the whole point, my friend. I'm glad you're enjoying the game time!
Thank you! Me too. Joy is something I'm trying to actively seek, though some days it's hard to find. Take it where you can, right?
We share “Doom Guy energy, Fall Guys skills” 🤣

That stuck with me.
