With the pandemic, this year has been a bit of a sad one for writers events. Lots of them were cancelled entirely, others made the switch to digital only - which has actually been quite excellent in a lot of ways, just, different to the in person events.
I’m really excited (but also ridiculously nervous) about going to my first in person event for the year this weekend.

You can find me at the Manawatu Writer’s Festival on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of September. I’ll be speaking on the Speculative fiction panel at 4pm Saturday, and the Horror panel at 11.15am on Sunday. (Full timetable here).
It feels really strange, and strangely anxiety inducing, to be travelling out of the region and away from my family. I’ve not done that since before we first went into Lockdown, and while it will be perfectly safe and utterly lovely to catch up with some of my absolute fav writer friends, I’ve got nerves I didn’t expect.
2020 is weird, y’all. Real weird.
