Hey friends!

I know it’s been a long time since I’ve emailed, and I’m sorry about that. Life has been, well, full of all the things. I’m sure yours has been the same - the world continues to be an interesting and sometimes chaotic place, and our lives are still in flux since the pandemic began.

I’m sorry if it’s been hard. I hope you’re doing okay.

I got the exciting news last week that Butcherbird has gone on pre-order though, and I really wanted to share it with you. Some folks have been waiting a LONG time to get their hands on this book, and while there is still a wait, the time draws near.

Please note, that this link is only for print books directly from Huia. If you’re in a town/city where you have a bookstore you’d love to support, I highly recommend ordering it from them - our small businesses need all the love they can get. There will be digital copies available, and I’ll let you know when that pre-order is up.

I’m also really excited to have an audiobook available too! (see the cover for that below). I kept those rights when I signed with Huia, because my beloved Aunt Ginny had been offering for ages to pay for an audiobook. She has a brain problem which means she can’t read print, and she knows there are oodles of other people who can’t for whatever reason. Audiobooks are a real blessing for many people (me included!). I’m super grateful for her contribution and support of me, and I can’t wait to hear what she thinks.

I’m also incredibly grateful for Naomi, who narrated the book. I was really lucky to get a 50% off deal for her launch month. It’s the first time I’ve done something like this but my nerves only lasted for the first email. Naomi walked me through the whole process and did lots of checking in about whether she’d got the voices of the characters right etc. I highly recommend her; she was an absolute joy to work with. If you’re ever looking for a narrator, definitely check her out.

Aside from that, I’ll have some cool announcements of things I’ll be doing in the next few months shortly, once things have been signed and finalized! It’s a busy time for this author, and an exciting one.

I can hardly believe my book is going to be a real thing in the world in just a couple of months!
